The Supervisory Committee of the Central Municipal Council elections has announced that 42 candidates, including one woman register to stand for election to the Council at its fifth session during the first day for candidates.
The day began at the electoral constituencies polling centres by receiving applications for elections to the Central Municipal Council at its fifth session, in a stage which comes after the completion of registration and voter registration.
The electoral committees receive applications from those who wish to run for Municipal Council elections every day from 4 pm to 7 pm, except for (Fridays and Saturdays).
Earlier, the Interior Ministry announced in a statement on the open applications for in the candidates as of today (Tuesday, March 3), and called on citizens who wish to stand for membership of the Central Municipal Council to abide by term set for elections.
The electoral law set terms for he eligible voter, namely that his original nationality shall be Qatari or that 15 years have elapsed after naturalization, not under the age of eighteen years, have not been convicted of an offence prejudicial to honour or trust and shall be resident in the electoral constituency area in which he will practice the right of voting.
