The Interior Ministry said Sunday five police men and a civilian were killed in an explosion outside the el Arish Police Station in North Sinai.

A truck attempting to storm the police station was warded off by security forces, who opened fire at the vehicle, causing it to explode, said media official of the ministry.

A number of policemen and civilians were also injured in the incident, he added.

The injured was moved to the hospital and a manhunt was launched to arrest perpetrators, according to the source.
