Five policemen were wounded in an attack on a security checkpoint in the Delta city of Behaira early Monday.

A number of unidentified gunmen opened fire at the mobile checkpoint as they were trying to escape from the troops who signaled for them to stop, a source with the Interior Ministry said.

The injured troops were moved to hospital.

An investigation was launched to identify the perpetrators.
