Security forces arrested 50 medium-ranking members of the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) and its supporters in the past 24 hours, Interior Ministry said on Thursday.
In a press release, the ministry said the security campaign has also managed to arrest 12 members of quality operations committees affiliated to MB in Cairo, Giza, Alexandria, Sharqiya, Fayyoum and Assuit governorates.
They are accused of targeting police and army forces as well as vital facilities.
A probe was launched into the incident.
