Around 781 migrants were rescued near the coast of Libya earlier this week, Italian security sources said on Thursday.
The rescue operation took place on Sunday and Monday.
The Norwegian migrant-carrying ship arrived at Cagliari port with 595 men, 170 women, 11 children and four bodies on board.
The survivors will undergo medical checkups before being carried to temporary reception centers in Cagliari island, the sources added.
