Police in Tanta

Eight members of the Muslim Brotherhood in Tanta, north of Cairo, were remanded in custody for further 15 days pending investigations into violence charges.

The suspects face charges of provoking riots, disrupting public security and joining a terrorist group.

In December 2013, the government declared the Muslim Brotherhood a terrorist organization, blaming it for a string of attacks in the country and banning all its activities nationwide.

Most leaders along with thousands of members of the group have been tried and sentenced so far.
