Cairo - MENA
A survey carried out by the Egyptian Center for Public Opinion Research (Baseera) said 85% of Egyptian people support the appointment of sons of poor laborers in judiciary.
Nearly eight percent of the respondents rejected such action, while seven percent of the respondents were neutral and did not determine their stance.
The poll was conducted on May 12-13 on 1,336 Egyptian people.
The poll was conducted after controversial remarks by former justice minister that the sons of rubbish collectors should not become judges.
The son of a rubbish collector "would get depressed and would not continue" if he was appointed a judge, Saber warned in an interview on Sunday.
Thousands of people took to social media to express anger at his comments.
Later the minister tendered resignation to Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab.
