African Union summit

At the end of the Malabo AU summit, the African leaders adopted a number of important declarations and took many important resolutions.
They adopted two declarations which are "Malabo Declaration on the elimination of child and maternal preventable mortality In Africa" and "Malabo Declaration on acceleration of agriculture development".
Having the main theme of Malabo summit as "Agriculture and food security in Africa", the African leaders have acknowledged the ongoing efforts to implement "comprehensive Africa agriculture development program" (CAADP), as well as the positive growth seen in the agriculture sector in recent years.
The African leaders committed to the elimination of hunger in Africa by the year 2025 and halving poverty percentage by the same year through comprehensive agricultural growth and transformation and promoting intra-African trade in agricultural goods and services.
They expressed concern about the limited progress in the agro-industries and agribusiness development.
The Summit stressed the importance of maintaining and sustainable use of the African natural resources.
