Berlin - Arab Today
Al Azhar Grand Imam Ahmed el Tayyeb highlighted the major responsibility of ambassadors of Arab and Islamic nations to the west with regard to delivering the true image of Islam.
Speaking at a meeting with ambassadors of Arab and Islamic countries in Berlin Wednesday, Tayyeb hailed the role played by the ambassadors, particularly among constant attempts to distort Islam and to accuse the divine religion of terrorism and extremism.
He added that Al Azhar exerts intensive efforts in collaboration with the Muslim Council of Elders - mainly established to let peace prevail worldwide - through peace convoys in order to correct the misconceptions of Islam.
A dialogue initiative was launched between the east and the west, he noted.
Bayt al Aa'ela (Family House) was set up upon joint cooperation between Al Azhar and the Egyptian church in order to maintain the Muslim-Christian unity in Egypt.
For their part, the ambassadors urged the whole world to turn to Al Azhar, the voice of moderation, to protect the world from dangers of terrorism.
