Egypt's higher religious institution welcomed on Wednesday the Greek parliament's recognition of the state of Palestine during a special session on Tuesday.

Al Azhar expressed appreciation of the successful diplomatic efforts of the Palestinian Authority, urging the rest of world countries to follow suit till the Palestinians regain all their lawful rights.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas was present at the Greek parliament session.

He hoped that peace would prevail in the entire world.
