Caretaker President Moncef Marzouki conferred, Friday, with Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz.
The meeting took place at Sipopo Conference Centre in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, on the sidelines of the 23rd African Union Summit.
Bilateral and Maghrebi cooperation, the state of affairs in Libya and the security situation in the region were at the centre of the talk, said a Presidency press release.
The two presidents underlined the need to further promote Maghrebi action and energise the structures of the Arab Maghreb Union in the service of its peoples.
The security situation in the Sahel and Sahara region and the "need to devise a joint strategy to respond to the threat which terrorist groups pose to security and stability in the region" were also debated, the same source said.
The meeting was attended by Foreign Minister Mongi Hamdi and Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs Fayçal Gouia.
