The Arab League (AL) announced that a delegation of the AL general secretariat will head to the Mauritanian capital Nouakchott on July 13 to get acquainted with preparations for hosting the 27th session of the Arab Summit to be held on July 25th.
In a press conference on Sunday after meeting Mauritanian representative to the AL Weddy Ould Sidi Heibi, the Deputy Secretary General of the AL Ahmed bin Heli said that the Mauritanian side informed the AL that all the technical and logistic preparations as well as documents of the summit were finalized.
He further underlined that the summit, which will be dubbed the "summit of hope", will be preceded by a series of preparatory meetings for high-level officials of the economic and social council on July 20.
The AL general secretariat prepared all the documents of the summit topped by the report of the AL secretary general and the summit's agenda which will include all the current issues, he underscored.
The agenda will tackle the crises of the Arab region, the Arab role towards it, the Arab national security, means of combating terrorism, establishing the Arab joint force and the Palestinian cause.
For his part, the Mauritanian diplomat said that his country is ready to host the summit, noting that the preparations were carried out in three months upon the directives of Mauritanian president Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz.
The preparatory meetings will be held from July 20 to 23, while the summit will take place in July 25, he reiterated.
