The Interior Ministry has proved its professional competence in the battle against terrorism and the dismantling of terrorist cells over the decades.
The ministry has detected a number of extremist organizations and their methods in planning and implementing horrific crimes. It has also successfully exposed those involved and identified their locations and roles, attacking their hideouts.
Some terrorists turned themselves in after they realized that the security forces were zeroing in on them.
Security forces also managed to cripple the criminal organizations' movement and besiege and isolate terrorists through a systematic strategy of drying out their funding sources. Some terrorists were also killed in shootouts with security forces.
The following list shows that has been a positive record of accomplishments among the security men in the Kingdom thanks to their brave efforts in capturing wanted people.
March 2001: Many British national in Riyadh were arrested after a series of bombings in the Kingdom. Subsequently, a British citizen died. An American also died.
June 14, 2003: Five terrorists were killed and 12 others arrested in the Khalidiya neighborhood in Makkah. During the arrest operation, two police officers lost their lives and five security men and four civilians were wounded.
March 13, 2005: Security forces monitored a wanted person belonging to a terror cell from inside one of the buildings in Rabwah district of Jeddah. Saad Bubi, the wanted man, was killed and three of his companions were arrested, while 13 security men were wounded.
Oct. 19, 2006: Sixteen terrorists were arrested — two residents and 14 others from Makkah, Riyadh, Jazan and Al-Jouf.
April 26, 2015: Law enforcement agencies arrested 93 people belonging to terrorist cells related to Daesh before they could carry out attacks that they had planned in different parts of the Kingdom.
June 13, 2016: Security forces announced the arrest of three terrorists during a security operation in Madinah.
