Algiers - APS
President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika affirmed Monday in Algiers that Algeria is “seriously” preparing for the revision of its Constitution on the basis of the results of the broad consultations held for this purpose.”
“Algeria will revise its Constitution and is seriously preparing for it on the basis of the results of the broad consultations organized for this purpose so that to involve all the social categories,” said President Bouteflika in a message to the participants in the African scientific conference on the “evolution of the constitutional law in Africa,” read on his behalf by Mohamed Ali Boughazi, adviser at the Presidency of the Republic.
President Bouteflika said that the objective was to “reach a consensus on fundamental issues and guarantee the effectiveness of the new constitutional provisions.”
“It is clear that the objective is to facilitate the process of the opening of the Algerian society, by working to preserve its stability and sparing it the troubles faced by different countries in the world in an era marked by deep changes,” said President of the Republic.
“For this purpose, we make sure not to imitate and improvise. Our country which suffered from the throes of terrorism refuses to venture in such an adventure, which often causes tragedies, rejected out of hand by our society,” underlined President Bouteflika.
