Amman - KUNA
Al-Nusra Front militants managed to control sites in Daraa in the South and Qalamoun plains in Reef Dimashq Governorates, a press statement by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) said Saturday.
Al-Nusra, Al-Qaeda's branch in Syria, took control of a tower in the town of Al-Sheikh Maskin in Daraa after engaging in heavy fighting with government and pro-Assad troops earlier in the day.
Violent clashes are also ongoing between ISIL and Kurdish units in Ras Al-Ain of Al-Hasakah Governorate, which so far resulted in two deaths and two injuries in the Kurdish side, with reports on a number of casualties from ISIL, SOHR noted.
The Observatory also documented some 200 casualties from some 280 raids by Assad forces within a week.
Furthermore, at least 116 explosive barrels were dropped over the governorates of Damascus, Aleppo, Homs, Latakia and Idlib, according to SOHR
