ICBA delegation visits Sudan to boost collaboration

Director General of the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD) Tariq Al-Zadjali said the organization is planning to support the Egyptian government efforts to develop Sinai Peninsula and give it a priority in the coming phase.

Interviewed by MENA correspondent in Sudan, Zadjali said AOAD falls into line with aspirations of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi who placed as top priority the development of Sinai with the aim of achieving development that would bring about peace and stability.

AOAD has contributed to several projects to develop and reconstruct Sinai as it set up a large number of artificial lakes in southern Sinai and Saint Catherine to provide necessary water for agriculture, he said, adding that the organization would continue work in this regard in the coming phase.

He said AOAD has carried out several projects in Egypt, citing the project of using sanitation water in cultivating Jatropha trees which are used as a biofuel along with other projects to distribute livestock and beehive on poor families to earn a living.

The organization also implemented several agricultural projects in Sudan's Darfur provinces along with a fisheries project that would boost Sudan's annual production of fish to hit 30,000 to 40,000 tons.

AOAD has also played a role in training humanitarian cadres in all Arab countries, the chief said, adding that the organization has successfully trained 35,000 cadres in the Arab world since its foundation up till now.
