Nouakchott - Arab Today
Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) has executed three persons over spying for the Mauritanian and French intelligence agencies.
A Mauritanian news website, "Al Akhbar" said Tuesday it has a video, titled "the traitors", that shows the execution of the three persons.
The news website said it would not show the video due to the graphic scenes.
One of those executed is Sheikh Bay Ould Mohamed Ould Habib, a brother of an Al Qaeda leader who had died in a Mauritanian prison.
The footage showed Ould Habib explaining how he had been recruited by the Mauritanian military intelligence in 2010 in return for a salary of 40,000 Mauritanian ouguiya and annual bonuses amounting to 1.2 million Mauritanian ouguiya.
Ould Habib also admitted that he had carried out operations in favor of the Mauritanian intelligence.
