Arab Foreign Ministers Monday renewed commitment to unity, sovereignty and independence of Yemen while rejecting foreign intereference in its affairs, and rebuffed the Houthis' take over of Sanaa.
The top diplomats, in a statement following their one-day meeting, underlined legitimacy of Yemeni President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi and his "faithful" national efforts to resume political process in line with the GCC initiative and its executive mechanism as well as recommendations of national dialogue and relevant UN resolutions.
The so-called constitutional declaration by the Houthi rebels was a "coup d'etat against the legitimate constitution and an attempt to enforce the will of this group on the Yemeni people and their legitimate institutions," said the statement.
The ministers called for immediate lifting of house arrest against prime minister Khaled Bahah and other ministers.
They welcomed Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz's call to host dialogue among the Yemeni political parties that were keen on stability and security of their country.
The ministers called on all parties in Yemen to cease hostilities and abide by UN Security Council resolutions 2201 and 2204, as well as addressing the dramatic humanitarian situation.
