Cairo - MENA
Arab League chief Nabil El-Arabi on Monday hailed Bahrain’s parliamentary elections.
"It's an important step in boosting democracy in Bahrain," el-Arabi said in a statement.
He said new elected councils should work on meeting the demands and aspirations of the people of Bahrain.
According to official figures, around 51.5 percent of eligible voters participated in the parliamentary elections, while 53.7 percent participated in the municipal elections, according to the country's Justice Minister Khaled Al-Khalifa.
