Arab League (AL) Secretary General Nabil el Araby met Monday with new AL Assistant Secretary General for Palestine and Occupied Arab Territories Saed Abu Ali.

The AL ratified at its recent meeting at the level of foreign ministers the appointment of Abu Ali as assistant secretary general for five years.

He will succeed ambassador Mohamed Sobeih.

Abu Ali was born in Jenin in 1955 and served as Palestinian interior minister from 2009 to 2014.
