Cairo - Arab Today
Arab League (AL) Secretary General Nabil el Araby called on the Arab joint action organizations and funding institutions to participate in alleviating the humanitarian suffering of the refugees and displaced in the conflict-hit countries in the Arab world.
This remark came in a speech he delivered at the 43rd session of the higher coordination committee of Arab joint action.
He said that the Arab region witnesses dangerous challenges such as armed conflicts and the terrorism threat, which harms the Arab world at the political, economic, social and humanitarian levels.
This chaos resulted in increasing the number of the victims, refugees and displaced, he noted.
Araby underlined that the refugees are forced to stay for a long while away from their homeland suffering harsh living standards which requires the AL to protect them and preserve their dignity.
The AL pays a special attention to the refugees' issues, he reiterated, adding that Arab and regional efforts should be united to find a political solution for this crisis.
The AL chief underscored that women and children are most harmed by the current crises, adding that they should be protected by establishing in their camps projects as well as schools and offering them with good medical services.
