Arab League (AL) Secretary General Nabil el Araby stressed the need of uniting the efforts of the Arab parliaments so as to support the governments in overcoming the current crises that threaten Arab national security topped by the terrorism phenomenon.
This remark came during Araby's speech to the 23rd conference of the Arab Inter-parliamentary Union.
The AL chief further underlined the importance of the role played by the Arab MPs in the reform and development plans of the region's countries and in fulfilling the aspirations of its people.
He called on the participants to crystallize a joint parliamentary vision on supporting the Palestinian cause and exerted efforts to solve the crises in Syria, Libya, Yemen and Iraq.
For his part, former Jordanian parliament speaker Abdel Hadi al Majali expressed his hope to push forward the role played by the Arab Inter-parliamentary Union to converge the points of view between the peoples and governments.
