Arab League (AL) Secretary General Nabil el Araby welcomed on Wednesday a United Nations Security Council resolution imposing an arms embargo against the Yemeni Houthis and their allies.

In a statement, the AL chief called on all Yemeni political parties, especially the Houthis, to abide by the UN resolution and support Yemen's legitimate President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi.

The AL backs all efforts made by the Yemeni president to preserve his country's unity, security and stability, Araby asserted.

He urged all Yemeni political powers to stand by the Yemeni president to complete steps of the transitional phase according to the outcome of the comprehensive national dialogue.
