Cairo - MENA
The Arab League condemned on Wednesday the storming of the Al Ibrahimi Mosque in the West Bank city of Hebron by Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman and Economy Minister Naftali Bennett on Sunday.
"The Arab League condemns this crime which is listed in the Israel's black record of extremism and racism," Arab League Assistant Secretary-General for Palestine, Mohamed Sobeih said in a statement.
Sobieh said that storming the mosque by the Israeli ministers constitute a flagrant violation of international law, noting that such provocative actions and aggression against the Palestinian sacred places will promote an atmosphere of hatred and tension.
He expressed his regret that those who make such moves are top officials, calling on the United Nations and the UN Human Rights Council to protect the Palestinian people from the Israeli attacks.
