The emergency meeting of the Arab League Council, held at the permanent-delegate level on Monday, adopted a statement calling for firm stance against all forms of violence in Libya, particularly the economic facilities in the Oil Crescent region.
The Council urged strict implementation of the relevant UN Security Council resolutions and maintaining Libya's independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The Council asserted the need for finding a peaceful political solution to the crisis through a national dialogue involving broad spectrum of the society with a view to supporting the legitimate institutions notably the House of Representatives and the interim government.
Meanwhile, it called for excluding the terrorist groups in order to enhance the security of Libya and its neighbors.
The Council asked the League's Secretary General Nabil Al-Araby to follow up the developments of the situation in the country and continue consultations for holding a ministerial meeting of the Council as early as possible.
It reiterated solidarity with the Libyan people in their quest for security and stability, condemning all killings and kidnappings particularly those targeting the Egyptian nationals in the country.
The Council expressed condolences to the families of the Egyptian victims, referring to the physician who was killed along with some of his family members in Sirte, north Libya, recently.
It welcomed the efforts being made by Libya neighbors and Special Representative of the UN Secretary General, Bernardino Leon, to put an end to the political and security instability in the country.
It called for more efforts to help Libya rebuild its army and security forces un lift the arms ban on the country
