The Arab League said it was keen to promote the role of electoral departments at its member states to achieve democracy and good governance.

Elections are one of the most important means for the peaceful transfer of power and a main pillar for building a democratic system, Arab League Secretary General Nabil el Araby said in a speech given on his behalf by his deputy Ahmed bin Hilli at a forum of Arab electoral departments.
