Arab League Assistant Secretary General Ambassador Mohammad Sobieh sounded the alarm against Israeli schemes in the holy city of Al Quds if Arabs remained silent over them.

In statements on Monday, Sobieh slammed at the calls made by the extremist Jewish organizations to storm Al Aqsa Mosque on Monday on the occasion of the Jewish feast of Shavuot.

He said the Zionist right-wing Israeli government has illusions about establishing a new structure on Temple Mount over the coming two years.

The ambassador called on all Arab officials, Islamic and Christian foundations to take swift action to stop such Jewish schemes against the holy city.

Sobieh also said the economic situation in Jerusalem is very bad as almost 80 percent of its people are living under the poverty line, mentioning the recurrent storming of the holy mosque and groups of Jewish settlers who violate the sanctity of the holy places under the protection of the Israeli forces.
