The Arab League has warned of the "terrorist" attacks which aim at deliberate destruction of the Arab cultural heritage and the serious repercussions and negative effects of these attacks.
The Arab League stressed that the acts of these extremist groups threaten ancient civilization of the Arab nation.
This came during the speech of Arab League Secretary-General Dr. Nabil Elaraby during the opening session of the second international conference on Archaeological Heritage in the Arab World: Challenges and Solutions.
Dr. Elaraby said that Arab League attaches great importance to the protection of Arab cultural heritage, especially in the current circumstances and the dangers threatening the ancient ruins.
"We are facing major challenges imposed by the events and crises that have hit the region, most importantly the fierce and deliberate terrorist attacks that target the Arab cultural heritage," he added.
