Arab League warns of deteriorating conditions for refugees

The Arab League warned of deteriorating humanitarian conditions for refugees in a number of Arab countries.

Speaking at a press conference held at the AL premises on Monday, Special Envoy of the AL Secretary General of the for humanitarian relief, Sheikha Hessa bint Khalifa al Thani said that conditions of refugees in a number of Arab countries are extremely difficult.

She, meanwhile, reviewed visits by delegations from the pan-Arab body to Jordan, Lebanon and Iraq in order to review the conditions of the Syrian refugees.

The delegations also paid a visit to Sudan to get acquainted with the humanitarian conditions for citizens in Darfur along with Yemen and Djibouti, she added.

She also described the situation of the Somali refugees as tragic, adding that their basic needs are unavailable.

Asked about the conditions of the Yemeni refugees, Hessa said that the refugees camp include about 2,000 refugees, adding that UN High Commissioner for Refugees supervise the refugees camps.

There are also Arab organizations that work to meet the refugees' needs, she concluded.
