Cairo - Arab Today
President of the Arab Parliament Ahmed bin Mohamed al Jarawan has stressed the importance of resuming parliamentary activities in Egypt, saying this would support AP activities.
Speaking to reporters after his meeting with Speaker of the Egyptian House of Representatives Dr Ali Abel Aal on Tuesday, Jarawan said he congratulated Abdel Aal on the completion of the third phase of the roadmap.
Jarawan said he invited Abdel Aal to take part in the next Arab parliamentary summit to be held in Cairo in February.
Abdel Aal accepted the invitation, Jarawan noted.
Abdel Aal should act to quickly include the names of Egyptian MPs at the AP in order to restore the Egyptian parliamentary activities in the Arab region, Jarawan told reporters.
The AP backs the Egyptian people and the roadmap that is now complete with the election of a new parliament, Jarawan said.
He said he agreed with Abel Aal on a number of points concerning joint cooperation, especially to support Egyptian issues at the Arab and world levels.
It is also important to boost partnership between the AP and the Egyptian House of Representatives to be able to unify stances, Jarawan said.
The meeting also tackled preparations for the upcoming Arab parliamentary summit, he added.
