Arab Parliament (AP) Speaker Ahmed al Jarwan expressed on Wednesday his support to the Egyptian leadership and people against any attempts to destabilize the country.

In a statement, Jarwan criticized as unprofessional and unobjective the media coverage of some Arab and international agencies of Tuesday's hijacking of EgyptAir plane that was forced to divert to Cyprus and land in Larnaca Airport.

He further underlined the efficiency and capabilities of the Egyptian security agencies and Armed Forces in maintaining the country's peace and stability.

Egypt is applying the latest international aviation safety standards, he added.

He concluded by congratulating the Egyptian leadership on the safe return of all passengers on board the hijacked plane to their homeland.
