Arab Parliaments

Arab Parliaments' speakers on Thursday called for forming a joint force under the Arab League's decisions to attain a real security and economic integration.

In a declaration at the conclusion of Arab Parliament Speakers' first conference in Cairo, they urged activation of a pan-Arab defense agreement and the implementation of the AL’s resolutions on the joint military force to maintain security of the region.

Under Thursday’s Cairo declaration, the lawmakers called for establishing an anti-terrorism watching body and sparing no efforts to improve the quality of lives through economic, social and political coalition between the Arab countries.

The statement proposed a new pan-Arab entity should be put in place to dissolve disputes gripping various Arab nations.

The approval of a statute of an Arab Security Council is a must to play its role in an Arab coherent system of cooperation, the declaration added.

It said: the extraordinary developments taking place in the region should be taken as a ground for serious and real concerted efforts from Arab people, governments and parliaments to subdue the sweeping waves of terrorism passing over the region.
