Arab League Secretary General Nabil el Araby called for doubling efforts at the regional and international levels to halt the bloodshed in Syria and working out a political solution to the long-standing crisis.

The Arab League chief's remarks were made following his meeting with UN peace envoy to Syria Staffan de Mistura in Geneva, according to a statement released by the Arab League General Secretariat.

The two sides discussed the latest developments in the Syrian crisis.
