At least 25 Egyptian border guards were killed or injured as arms smugglers attacked their post at Al-Farafreh-Cairo highway on Saturday.
Three of the attackers were also killed, the state MENA news agency reported, citing security sources.
The attackers used sophisticated weapons including RPGs and Grinovs, the sources said.
This is the second time the same military post comes under attack by arms smugglers in three months; an earlier attack claimed the lives of five soldiers and an officer.
