The Armed Forces on Thursday started to distribute thousands of food supply packs at half of market price in a number of governorates.
In Minia, around 30,000 packs of ration packs were distributed in a bid to ease economic hardship.
Governor Essam el Bedawy asserted that the government is keen on providing high-quality products at total price of EGP 25 per pack.
In Matrouh, Western Military Zone Commander Maj. General Wahid Ezzat said around 40,000 packs of food supplies were distributed in the governorate.
About 20,000 boxes were allocated for Marsa Matrouh, he said, adding the subsidized packs are available at army retail outlets.
The army started Thursday to distribute large amounts of food supplies in Aswan, Governor Magdy Hegazi said.
Earlier, a statement said that the army prepared 8 million food boxes to distribute them nationwide at half of the market price.
It said each box, which will be sold at EGP 25, contains packs of sugar, rice, beans, margarine, tea and tomato sauce.
