The army on Saturday foiled an attack on a North Sinai checkpoint and killed three Takfiris, the Armed Forces said in a statement.
The Takfiri elements attacked a checkpoint west of Rafah city with mortars, RPGs and automatic rifles, the statement added.
The troops deployed at the checkpoint managed to thwart the attack, killing three of the attackers and chasing the others who fled the scene.
Also in Sheikh Zewied, army personnel exchanged fire with a group of militants and destroyed one of their vehicles, according to the statement.
