A Yemeni army officer was shot dead by two unknown assailants in Al Hawtah district in Lahij Governorate, well-placed security sources said.
Two gunmen driving a motorcycle shot dead Col. Mahmoud al Naqib and managed to flee the scene, the sources said.
In the meantime, five soldiers were injured in a bomb blast in Al Hawtah while they were patrolling the area.
