New security measures have been taken to cut off supplies to the terrorist groups in North Sinai, Army Spokesman Mohamed Samir said on Thursday.

In a statement, Samir said the Armed Forces set up several checkpoints along the area between Rafah and Sheikh Zuwaid cities.

He revealed that a firefight erupted today between servicemen and a number of terrorists in Sinai, causing a landmine in the area to explode.

No casualties were reported in the bombing, he said.
