Syrian President Bashar al-Assad

President of the Syrian regime Bashar al Assad has said he is willing to step down if he is convinced that will lead to peace in his country.

Assad told Al Arabiya Al Hadath channel on Tuesday he believes he should not be a president if he is the cause of the conflict in Syria.

Assad denied that his army used barrel bombs, chemical weapons or chlorine gas as reported during an attack in Idlib last month.

The international coalition is not serious about fighting terrorism, he charged.

According to Assad, the Syrian army is exerting 10 times as much daily effort as that exerted by the coalition to fight terrorism.
