Assiut Governor Yasser el Dessouki deplored the terrorist act, which resulted in the killing of Prosecutor General Hisham Barakat.

Such acts will not sap the determination of the Egyptian state and the Egyptians to confront terrorism.

In exclusive statements to MENA, the governor said that Egypt is capable of eliminating terrorism through the unity of all state institutions.

Barakat died on Monday of wounds he sustained when a powerful bomb detonated near his motorcade as he was heading to work.
