Assiut security chief Tarek Nasr on Thursday denied media reports that a blast occurred near the governorate headquarters.
The reports are totally false and groundless, Nasr told MENA, asserting that the security situation in the Upper Egyptian city is stable.
Earlier in the day, news websites reported that five people, including policemen, were killed in a blast near Assiut governorate headquarters.
