At least 40 persons, including 15 in Wadi Helfa, were killed due to heatwave that hit several areas in Sudan, Al Arabiya reported on Thursday.

Most of the killed persons were old people, kids and patients, Sudanese medical sources said.

The toll number is expected to hit 100 due to power cut in main cities of Sudan, the sources underlined.

The Middle East and North Africa is witnessing a heatwave that claimed the lives of hundreds of people while others were injured with heat exhaustion.
