 The Public Prosecution will not take the side of any party concerning the case of Awamia area citizen who died earlier inside Luxor police station, Attorney General of Luxor Prosecution Ahmed Abdel Rahman said.
In exclusive statements to MENA on Thursday, Abdel R
human said that the forensic department's report will identify if the death of the citizen resulted from torture or not.
He added that perpetrators will be brought to justice no matter who they are.
Abdel Rahman said a team affiliated to the public prosecution launched investigations into the case.
Earlier, police forces arrested a citizen, 47, on the wee hours of Wednesday in Awamia area of Luxor city. The forces detained him at Luxor police station then Luxor International Hospital informed the citizen's family that he died in the hospital after being moved from the police station.
Family members and friends gathered outside the police station, protesting his sudden death. They believed he was tortured to death.
Police had to fire tear gas canisters to disperse them. Some 24 of them were arrested to be freed earlier in the day the Luxor prosecution.
