Awqaf ministry

Awqaf Minister Mohamed Mokhtar Gomaa discussed on Wednesday with Head of the Young Men's Muslim Association Ahmed el Fadaly preparations for establishing an anti-terror global academy in Egypt.

This came during a meeting that was held between Gomaa and Fadaly and attended by Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs Ahmad Ageeba and a number of the Awqaf Ministry's leaders.

During the gathering, Fadaly said the Young Men's Muslim Association has selected the awqaf minister to be chairman of the board of trustees of the academy thanks to his active role to face thoughts of terror groups and hard-line preachers.

The meeting is tantamount to a turning point in the fight against terrorism as it mulls over ways to combat terror and extremist groups from the beginning and away from the security role, Director of the Media Center with the Young Men's Muslim Association Mai Nagi said.

The anti-terror global academy will be financed by Egyptian and Arab funds, she added.
