Eid prayers

The No to Religious Parties campaign urged on Monday the Awqaf Ministry to make sure that candidates of religious parties are not taking advantage of Eid prayers lots in electioneering.

The ministry has earlier said that it will not give permits to Salafi Dawah to set up lots for Eid prayers.

Mohamed Attia, the campaign's coordinator, warned that candidates of Salfi or Nour Party could use these prayers lots in their elections campaigns.

He added that a list of religious parties' candidates was made to find out whether any of them will use prayers lots in electioneering.

The No to Religious Parties campaign was launched in August by Tamarod (rebel) and political activist Hamdi Al Fakharani.

Tamarod was a signature drive that played a leading role in ousting former Islamist president Mohamed Morsi from office in July 2013.
