Azerbaijani Ambassador to Egypt Shahin Abdullayev wished success to the Egyptian new parliament in supporting stability and development in the country.
In an exclusive interview with MENA on Sunday, Abdullayev congratulated Egypt's government and people over concluding the roadmap via holding parliamentary elections.
He asserted that members of the friendship group in the Azerbaijani parliament and their Egyptian counterparts will cooperate in the coming period, expecting a visit by a delegation of the Egyptian parliament members to visit Azerbaijan capital's Baku soon.
He also expressed his optimism over the investment climate in Egypt given its geopolitical position and especially after the inauguration of the new Suez Canal project that will help in implementing a number of important projects in Egypt.
The ambassador also pointed out at the willingness of 50-60 Azerbaijan businessmen to visit Cairo within the sidelines of the meeting of the joint committee that aims to discuss fostering cooperation with their Egyptian counterparts.
Abdullayev said Egyptian Petroleum Minister Tarek el Mulla is expected to visit Baku to inspect available cooperation opportunities in the petrochemicals and petroleum refining fields.
Meanwhile, the ambassador expected the number of Azerbaijani tourists to Egypt to increase in the coming period, pointing out that 800-1,000 Azerbaijani tourists visit Egypt monthly.
Turning to trade between the two countries, he said that the volume of trade reached 3.6 billion dollars during the last four years, adding that trade between the two countries is intensified in the petroleum field.
He added that Cairo annually exports to Baku petroleum products, medicine and vegetables worth 15-25 million dollars.
