Al Azhar and all its institutions condemned allegations which said that Al Aqsa Mosque is not in Al Quds and that this city is not sacred. 

In a statement Thursday, Al Azhar's Senior Scholars Authority condemned attempts by a number of media outlets to tarnish the Islamic identity of the holy city and call for revoking religious institutions under the pretext of unifying pre-university education.

Azhar will exert strenuous efforts to nib in the bud these attempts, added the statement. 

The statement also affirmed that Al Azhar will remain the main reference in Islamic affairs and a safety valve for the Islamic nation.
