Egypt's Al Azhar has condemned the killing of police officer Ayman Mohamed Ibrahim el Desouqi hours after he was kidnapped in Rafah.
Desouqi had been kidnapped by terrorists before his body was found 24 hours later on Tuesday.
A statement by Al Azhar issued Wednesday called the incident a cowardly act of terror.
Al Azhar extended condolences to Desouqi's family.
