Azhar Grand Imam Ahmed el Tayyeb on Monday sent a congratulatory cable to Saudi Arabia's new King Salman bin Abdel Aziz Al Saud.
In his cable, el Tayyeb wished the new king success in continuing development, progress and prosperity in the kingdom, and in serving the issues of both the Arab and Muslim nations.
Azhar Imam added that he prays to Allah to help the new king in undertaking responsibility and to be "a worthy successor to the best predecessor."
El Tayyeb also sent similar cables to Saudi new Crown Prince Muqrin bin Abdel Aziz Al Saud and Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Nayef bin Abdul Aziz.
