Azhar on Tuesday strongly denounced threats which have been posted on terrorist websites against Egyptian judges.

"Such threats will not deter judges from achieving justice and retribution," Azhar, the world's highest seat of Sunni learning, said in a statement.

It called on all Egyptians to stand united "in the face of terrorism and evil forces that are targeting policemen, troops and judges."
